NexTech AR and Cannvas MedTech to bring AR to cannabis education

Toronto-based NexTech AR Solutions today announced it has signed a deal to bring augmented reality (AR) to cannabis education through learning kiosks with Cannvas Medtech Inc., a Toronto-based digital cannabis education company.

Cannvas MedTech intends to launch AR-enhanced education kiosks into high-traffic retail areas across Canada, to improve accessibility to free and physician-backed learning, focused on the potential benefits of medical and adult-use cannabis. Through these kiosks, users will also have the ability to learn from and follow up with a licensed medical practitioner.

“Working with NexTech allows Cannvas MedTech the opportunity to create a first-to-market AR-based cannabis learning program and lead the way for the digital evolution of education as it continues to intertwine with technology to generate new and exciting ways for people to take in information,” said Steve Loutskou, COO of global markets for Cannvas MedTech.

The company hopes to use AR to attract a wider audience and extend the length of each consumer interaction while delivering cannabis education to Canadians. Cannvas MedTech and NexTech plan to collaborate on data collection and analysis to examine consumer behaviour patterns at Cannvas Kiosks to improve customer experience.

Both companies will also explore their existing networks and partnerships to assess whether there is potential to form a joint service offering through the Cannvas Kiosk platform or another yet-to-be-decided future opportunity.

“As someone who comes from the training and education world, the extension of the digital experience to include AR is so promising,” said Reuben Tozman the COO of NexTech. “Creating high powered user experiences seems to be common ground between our respective organizations and we are excited to offer the market true next-generation experiences that drive engagement and learning.”

“Working with NexTech allows Cannvas MedTech the opportunity to create a first-to-market AR-based cannabis learning program.”

NexTech, founded in 2018, brings AR to ecommerce solutions for websites, as well as AR education and event live streaming. Its AR web-enabled ecommerce platform is currently integrated with Shopify, WordPress and Magento.

Cannvas MedTech, founded in 2014, designs and builds patient-centric platforms, which harnesses data to promote digital cannabis education and business technology within the health sciences.

The content showcased at each Cannvas Kiosk will be powered by the Cannvas.Me platform, a digital solution for the medical cannabis community, offering interactive tools and content to audiences wishing to learn about health care through cannabis.
