Toronto-based Rumble has added 20-year digital media veteran Miguel Monteverde to its team as chief operating officer.

Rumble’s video licensing platform launched in 2013 with the goal of helping users monetize their content. Last year, Rumble partnered with Getty Images to license its videos to the stock image studio.

The company says it has 60,000 content creators and a library of over than 300,000 videos.

“With decades of industry experience and entrepreneurial drive, Miguel is a proven leader,” said Chris Pavlovski, founder and CEO of Rumble. “This is a critical time for big media and digital publishers who are trying to grow profitable video businesses online. The Rumble platform has always provided a compelling solution for these companies and with Miguel now on board, we are even better equipped to help them grow their video revenue.”

Monteverde, a three-time Webby Award winner based in Washington, DC, will oversee the company’s day-to-day operations and scale it to prepare for growth.

Monteverde is a founder and principal at Green Mountain Advisors, a consulting firm for early-stage companies. He also serves as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, working with student-founded startups.

Monteverde was most recently a senior vice president of digital media at Discovery Communications, and led Discovery’s video streaming services for nine US networks, including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, and Investigation Discovery. He was a finalist in 2014 for a Primetime Emmy for Creative Achievement in Interactive Media, as executive producer of Animal Planet’s Whale Wars: Blood and Water.

Prior to joining Discovery in 2008, Monteverde spent over ten years at AOL, including serving as general manager of AOL Video.

“Rumble has the solution for a problem that has plagued big media since I began my career in this industry in 1995: how to build a profitable, ad-supported media business on the internet,” said Monteverde. “As someone who has spent nearly two decades trying to do just that, I’m excited to be joining Rumble at such a vital time, particularly with so many publishers investing heavily in video. I look forward to evangelizing the Rumble platform and to getting more media companies onboard with us so they can grow their online video profits.”
