This summer, Shopify is conducting Shop Class, an eight-stop tour across Canada to convince more people to launch their businesses on Shopify.
Formerly known as Retail Tour, Shop Class aims to give aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn more about launching a business through workshops, advice from business experts, and connections with other entrepreneurs from Canada’s startup community.
While Shop Class has previously taken place in the US and the UK, 2017 marks the first time the tour will take place in Canada.
“We hope to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to recognize their potential and take the leap to bring their business ideas to life.”
Shopify said during the tour, attendees can sign up for half or full-day workshops that will cover topics including how to get started, building a brand, marketing a business, taking better product photography, and shipping products.
Shop Class’ participants can also participate in interactive panel discussions and networking opportunities with Shopify merchants, partners, and other professionals, as well as set up 1-on-1 appointments with entrepreneurial experts to get personalized guidance and support.
“In a recent survey, Shopify found that more than two-thirds of Canadians would love to be their own boss someday,” said Alexandra Clark, a spokesperson for Shop Class. “It’s this insight that inspired us to bring Shop Class to Canada. Shopify has helped over 30,000 Canadian entrepreneurs turn their dreams into reality, and these businesses have in turn helped to create more jobs and bring millions of dollars to local economies across the country. We hope to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to recognize their potential and take the leap to bring their business ideas to life.”
While Shop Class began on May 30 and has taken place in three cities including Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax, the tour will continue throughout the summer at the following locations:
- July 19-20: Whitehorse
- August 1-3: Vancouver
- August 15-16: Calgary
- September 7-8: Winnipeg
- September 19-20: Ottawa
