Propel opens applications for 2020 Incite accelerator program

Saint John, New Brunswick-based accelerator Propel is accepting applications for the next cohort of its Incite program.

Launched in June 2018, Incite is a 12-month, entirely virtual accelerator program that features online and interactive components including one-on-one sessions, live online meetups, and curated content to help founders grow their businesses.

“Propel’s EIR’s encouraged us to analyze how we were attracting customers and adjust to reach our goals.”

Propel said participants will have the opportunity to learn about startup methodology and gain access to dedicated coaches, who are former participants of the program. The program is customized for startups at different stages to help them raise capital and grow sales.

“You cannot create a successful business without being pushed outside your comfort zone,” said Laura Simpson, CEO and co-founder of Side Door. “Propel’s EIR’s [entrepreneur-in-residence] encouraged us to analyze how we were attracting customers and adjust to reach our goals more effectively.”

Simpson added that as an entrepreneur in the Propel accelerator, she valued the mentors and time they invested, noting that those mentors continue to work with her post-accelerator. invested the time and energy in us and will remain lifelong mentors.

Propel noted that participants will also gain exclusive access to content from Ash Maurya, creator of LEANSTACK, and Silicon Valley-based GrowthX’s Market Acceleration Program.

In November, Propel announced the 32 companies selected for Phase 2 of the Incite program. Phase 2 gives companies access to funding opportunities, including a $50,000 simple agreement for future equity (SAFE) investment from NBIF and Innovacorp, $25,000 cash prize with an additional $30,000 investment for the winner of the Gerry Pond Sales Award, and an investment readiness workshop. Last year, Halifax-based Side Door was the first winner of the Gerry Pond Sales Award.
