The Founder Institute in Montreal is partnering with OVH Launch Pad — the startup program of cloud computing company OVH Canada — to host its first public Demo Day with a prize for the most promising startup.
Taking place with graduates of the 2018 program, the Demo Day will be hosted in collaboration with Fasken Martineau, Richter, and Futurpreneur. The most promising startup chosen at the Demo Day will receive a $5,000 prize, while two fellowships in artificial intelligence will be sponsored for the upcoming 2018 Founder Institute Montreal cohort.
“The founding principle of Founder Institute is that you can build a vibrant, active startup community in every city around the world. The companies launched with us in Montreal will change, if successful, the way everything works for us in our society.” says Sergio A. Escobar, managing director of the Montreal Founder Institute. “We are asking the help from everybody to build a powerful Montreal ecosystem that sustains itself. It’s time to end the vicious cycle of Canadian companies leaving to the United States for growth and better funding opportunities.”
Based in Silicon Valley, the Founder Institute has chapters around the world, and provides a program structure, mentorship, and access to a network of fellow entrepreneurs. OVH, for its part, has hosted its startup program that includes free cloud products, tailored support with a solutions architect, and visibility through events. Mentors at Founder Institute Monreal include GradeSlam CEO Phil Cutler, Panache Ventures managing partner Mike Cegelski, and BusBud CEO LP Maurice.
“The Founder Institute has been a driving force for empowering innovative startups in Montreal, and we are thrilled to put our efforts together in a mission that has always been at the core of our very own DNA,” said Guillaume Fillière, head of OVH Digital Launch Pad. “Montreal’s rich and disruptive entrepreneurial ecosystem is a perfect match for our startup support program, and we can’t wait to see the great things that will emerge from this new partnership.”
The Demo Day takes place on April 24. Get your tickets here.
