Buffalo’s 43North looks to tempt Ontario entrepreneurs with $5 million in prizes

Located just 2 hours around Lake Ontario from the GTA, Buffalo claims that its 43North event is the world’s largest business idea competition. Last year’s inaugural event saw 96 countries compete, will 11 winners, including Markham, Ontario’s own triMirror.

This year’s 43North event looks to up the ante, offering $5 million in prize money, including a grand prize of $1 million, six $500,000 awards, and four $250,000 awards. In exchange, winners must park their company in Buffalo for one year, providing 43North five percent non-dilutive equity. 43North winners are also provided mentorship, and access to local business incentive programs like Start-Up NY.

43North is currently accepting applications, but only through June 24, so those interested should get to it.
