Montréal-based healthtech startup AlayaCare has made a series of new additions to its leadership team, adding some seasoned executives to its C-Suite and board of directors.
On the executive side, AlayaCare has promoted co-founder Brady Murphy to the role of chief revenue officer (CRO) and hired longtime Clio exec George Psiharis as chief operations officer (COO). The company has also added former United States (US) healthcare exec Marki Flannery and Jean-Michel Lemieux, who previously served as Shopify’s chief technology officer (CTO), to its board.
The group has more than 75 years of combined experience working in enterprise, home health, and software technology.
The group collectively brings over 75 years of experience working in enterprise, home health, and software technology. With these moves, AlayaCare aims to support its next stage of growth, which involves expanding its US operations given that the region was the fastest-growing part of AlayaCare’s business earlier this year.
“We’re proud to strengthen our executive bench and to have such strong leaders join AlayaCare bringing critical expertise to accelerate our rapid growth and innovation,” said Adrian Schauer, AlayaCare’s co-founder and CEO.
AlayaCare offers a software platform for home and community healthcare providers that enables these providers to manage the entire client lifecycle, from referrals and intake to billing, payroll, and more.
Murphy, who is taking on the role of CRO, co-founded AlayaCare with Schauer in 2014, and has worked at the startup for the past eight years, previously serving as AlayaCare’s vice-president (VP) of sales and marketing.
Prior to joining AlayaCare, Psiharis served as COO of Clio, where he spent 11 years helping grow what began as a small, 10-person startup into a legaltech industry leader and unicorn. In the new role, Psiharis will spearhead strategic planning and a “wide variety” of business functions for AlayaCare.

Flannery previously served as president and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY), a large not-for-profit home and community-based health care organization, and VNSNY’s Partners in Care, which provides personalized home care services. As part of AlayaCare’s board, Flannery will look to provide the AlayaCare leadership team with additional knowledge, expertise and guidance on the healthcare market.
Fellow AlayaCare board addition Lemieux formerly served as CTO and senior VP of engineering at Shopify, where he was responsible for the retail giant’s tech strategy, infrastructure, and platform. Lemieux left Shopify earlier this year alongside a few other members of the company’s C-Suite. Since leaving Shopify, Lemieux has become an advisor, board member, and investor in other companies.

This June, AlayaCare raised $225 million CAD in Series D funding to build on its recent growth, including in the US healthcare market. The round was led by Al Gore’s Generation Investment Management, with participation from Toronto’s Klass Capital and return Québec-based investors Inovia Capital, CDPQ, and Investissement Québec.
At the time, AlayaCare said its US operations have grown by seven times over the last two years, amid rising demand for home healthcare.
To support its push into the US, AlayaCare announced in November that it had acquired Pennsylvania-based Delta Health Technologies, which offers resource management, billing, and clinical point of care tools to home health, hospice, and private duty providers.
