Transferwise calls its Facebook bot enabling international money transfers a first in Canada

TransferWise

UK-based Transferwise, which moved into the Canadian in mid-2016, says it is the first service provider allowing peer-to-peer money transfers through Facebook Messenger.

The partnership with Facebook allows users to make international money transfers through Facebook Messenger with real exchange rates, or those users find on Google or XE. The TransferWise bot is also available in the US, UK, Australia, and Europe.

“Our mission at TransferWise is to bring faster, cheaper, and more convenient international money transfers to everyone in the world. Building the TransferWise bot for Messenger is a great step in that direction,” said Scott Miller, head of global partnerships at TransferWise. “We know Canada is a country built on multi-cultural roots so we’re proud to become the first service to enable Canadians to send money to friends and family internationally via Messenger. It’s also a powerful example of how our API can be used to seamlessly integrate TransferWise into almost any messaging, bank, or business payment system.”

Any user can interact with the bot to set up rate alerts to get notified of the exchange rate for their chosen currencies.
