For early stage startups looking for experience, registration is open to attend or pitch at the Velocity $5K Qualifiers.
The $5K Qualifiers, which is taking place July 8-9, is an informal pitching environment where startups pitch for the chance to participate in the Velocity Fund $5K. The top teams compete for titles like people’s choice, best pitch, and most innovative pitch.
The Velocity Fund $5K competition is part of the Velocity Fund Finals Spring 2015, which is a non-equity grant program for startups. Besides the $5K competition, startups can also apply for the $25K competition which showcases 10 startups that compete for a chance to win one of four $25,000 prizes to help kickstart their business and earn a spot in one of the Velocity workspaces.
Though the $5K competition is more focused on early-stage startups looking to gain experience in pitching, they’re still encouraged to apply to the $25K competition for a chance to get some valuable feedback before the $5K competition.
The competition is open to University of Waterloo students from any faculty or alumnus that have graduated within a year. The Velocity Fund Finals are taking place on July 23rd at the SLC Great Hall at the University of Waterloo.
