Working in the startup community can be rewarding for those excited about taking on a lot more responsibility on a small team, but that extra responsibility can also mean an increased chance of burning out and emotional distress.

TranQool, a Toronto-based startup that connects its users with certified therapists remotely, is doing its part to help fellow startup teams manage their emotional wellbeing with a Startup Mental Health workshop in Toronto.

During the workshop at SLab, attendees will learn about the signs and symptoms of emotional distress, rights and responsibilities as an employee and employer, how to create an emotionally healthy office environment, and online and offline resources.

“The word burnout is commonly used among the community but do we really know what the signs and symptoms of emotional distress are?” said Chakameh Shafii, founder of TranQool. “The purpose of the event is to equip startups with technics to increase productivity by developing an emotionally healthy environment. We will do this through case studies and personas.”
