Toronto-based GreenOwl Mobile, developer of the real-time mobile audio traffic platform, has raised $2 million in funding. The round was led by a Chinese team of mapping and location-based industry experts.
The company will use the capital to accelerate the development of the mobile traffic platform and to “expand more rapidly into strategic markets” in the United States and China.
GreenOwl Mobile CEO Matt Man called the funding round “timely and strategic”.
“We get to build out our service coverage quicker,” he said. “It will accelerate our product development roadmap for the features that our users and business partners had been waiting for. This investment also validates the need for better smart transportation mobile solutions in all emerging markets.”
The company’s vision is to provide location intelligence to make people more efficient. GreenOwl’s platform links drivers, media outlets, transportation agencies, content publisher, and advertising clients in a new way with its contextual audio delivery engine.
The company’s app, TrafficAlert, is one of the most driver-safe mobile technologies on the market, providing voice-base traffic guidance, descriptive incident reporting to avoid traffic delays. High production quality audio content is pushed to users while they drive without requiring them to touch their phones. Only relevant content is delivered to users, minimizing distraction, and the company’s calls the hands-free solution “one of the safest in the market.”
Live traffic updates and alternative routes are delivered to users based on their route and location, ahead of the time, giving them enough time to change their route. This “proactive location technology” provides users with actionable information.
GreenOwl Mobile also has no problems white-labelling their technology, as it can be re-branded or embedded in other systems, giving other brands “a great tool to drive more engagement and increase sales using custom location-based messages.”
“We constantly release new innovative features, update our design, and keep up to date with new devices and technologies, making this a future-proof solutions for our partners.”
