Several Canadian startups have made announcements and launched new features to make strides in AI. Here’s the latest on Canada’s movers and shakers.
Stradigi joins IVADO
Montreal-based software development company Stradigi has joined the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO), an initiative that brings together industry and academic researchers to advance expertise in data science, operational research, and artificial intelligence.
IVADO is a joint venture with HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, and the Université de Montréal. In September 2017, Stradigi opened an AI lab to build AI solutions in the medical, healthcare, sport, and ecommerce industries.
Through this partnership, Stradigi hopes to develop expertise in forecasting potential life-threatening events for patients, identifying personalized treatment policies, and creating a chatbot able to answer real-time medical questions.

DeepLearni.ng joins NVIDIA partner network as first Canadian partner
Toronto-based DeepLearni.ng, which works with enterprises to build and deploy AI systems, has joined the NVIDIA Partner Network comprised of deep learning companies that deliver services leveraging NVIDIA’s GPU cloud computing platform for business.
Santa Clara-based NVIDIA’s GPU computing platform is targeted to AI researchers, and works to bridge the gap between the massive data sets researchers work with, and the computing power needed to gain insights.
“Until recently, there have only been a handful of industry applications for deep learning that have shown what the technology can really do for business,” said DeepLearni.ng’s co-founder and chief of machine learning, Ragavan Thurairatnam. “DeepLearni.ng is setting out to change that, and our work with NVIDIA will be key to engaging enterprises as comprehensively as possible.”
The company raised a $9 million Series A in September 2017 to invest in more resources, hardware, and scale international expansion.
