Right now, Ritual is hiring a market development manager. We talked to Ritual founder Ray Reddy about the best parts of working there.
1) If someone were to come in to work for Ritual on their first day, what’s the first thing you tell them to get them excited to work there?
You’ve joined a world-class team who’s set out to redefine the way millions of people interact with local businesses every single day. Our goal is to make users’ lives easier by saving them valuable time and improving their daily experiences. What we do also empowers small businesses through technology and gives them the ability to compete with the big guys. Get ready for a whole lot of “you work for Ritual?” questions, and be prepared to feel absolutely fantastic about what you do.
2) What are some company perks that people can expect when working at Ritual?
Ritual credits – coffee & lunch are on the house.
Competitive salaries – we strive to pay top market compensation.
Owner status – every employee owns equity and becomes a shareholder.
Flexible hours – it’s called life. We understand.
Pick your own gear – for what will be the best adventure of your life.
Team hangouts – culture is extremely important to us. So is beer.
Health coverage – extensive health insurance so you can focus on your work.
Life Insurance – rest assured your loved ones are covered in extreme cases of emergency.
3) When working as part of the sales team, what kind of problems could the Market Development Manager expect to tackle? What makes the team so dynamic?
Our merchant partners face a wide variety of business challenges, and we work closely with them to offer the best in-store experience for users. This requires solving very local challenges, but across a grand scale. We have over 600 merchants on Ritual, ranging from small mom and pop locations to sophisticated chains. You’ll need to be able to cater to the entire spectrum. Given that scale, a single merchant’s problem will often be rolled out across several merchants, neighbourhoods, or even cities. That’s something really rewarding to see through from beginning to end.
4) In what ways do you help to foster personal and/or professional growth in your team?
The challenges you face when growing a business from scratch are massive and constant – we rely on all team members to contribute to business building strategies and go-to-market solutions. We set audacious goals, and everyone is constantly learning and growing in order to hit those benchmarks.
5) What’s your favourite part about working with the Ritual team?
We have some incredible talent across all our departments. Everyone is an owner of their own domain, but we all work cross-functionally to drive projects forward. Everyone’s roles has a direct and visible impact on Ritual’s success. We have leaders who are experienced in the startup world, and with exceptionally smart individuals, there’s a lot of learning that happens in this place. It’s fast-paced and exciting, and you get to be a part of something brand new and pioneer a unique space.
