Startup Calgary, the entrepreneur-led, grassroots, non-profit organization with the mission to activate startups, is holding its Launch Party 2013 on November 22.
Launch Party is an annual celebration of Calgary’s startup community where 10 of the newest and most promising local tech startups are showcased to an audience of entrepreneurs, investors, government, corporations, media and more. Awards and prizes are given, and the community as a whole comes together to connect with one another and celebrate entrepreneurship.
Last year the organization handed out nearly $100,000 worth of prizes, while over 400 people attended. It had guests from all over North America, including Toronto and San Francisco.

Speakers this year will include Brad Feld, managing director at the Foundry Group, cofounder at TechStars, and author of “Startup Communities”.
Nebula founder Chris Kemp will also take the stage. Previously Kemp was the CTO at NASA, where he co-founded the OpenStack project. Prior to joining NASA, Kemp helped create the third largest online community Classmates.com and was the founding CEO of the leading web-based vacation rental platform Escapia (AWAY).
The ten startups presenting on stage will be moderated by Tori and Christian MacLean, Cofounders, BeauCoo and Startup Calgary. Meanwhile, an “open, unfiltered and unscripted panel discussion” called “How I Raised My First Round” will feature Tara Kelly, CEO of SPLICE Software, Gary Ziegler, CEO of eThor, Ashley Dunfield, CEO of PetroFeed and Arpad Barabas, CEO of Mobizou. Moderating this discussion will be Evan Hu, founder of Ideaca.
