When last we checked in with Kitchener-Waterloo based Thalmic Labs, co-founder Stephen Lake said the company had shipped 24% of its 50,000 consumer pre-orders for the Myo armband. As of yesterday, that number is now 100%.
With pre-orders fulfilled, Thalmic is now placing the Myo in new sales channels, specifically monster e-commerce platform Amazon, where the device retails for $199 and comes in black or white.
“We are excited that the Myo armband is now available to Amazon.com customers,” Lake told BetaKit. “In addition to the increased exposure through Amazon.com, we look forward to getting our product in the hands of people who are interested in transforming the way we interact with technology.”
To mark the occasion, Thalmic has also released a new video showing off some of the applications developers have built for the Myo. It’s mainly shots of developers controlling robots with Tony Stark-like gestures, which is exactly what we were hoping to see.
