Effective August 10th, the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has a new boss. Taking over leadership will be Michael Denham, who currently serves as President of AquaTerra and sits on the Board of Futurpreneur Canada.
James Moore, Minister of Industry, stated, “I would like to welcome Michael Denham in his new role as President of the Business Development Bank of Canada. His significant business leadership and his familiarity with financing and entrepreneurship will benefit BDC as it continues to help Canadian businesses expand and succeed.”
Prior to AquaTerra, Denham was President and Senior Managing Director of Accenture PLC, former President of the Business Process Services of CGI Group, and was part of the leadership team at Bombardier. Denham attended Princeton University and also graduated from the London School of Economics.
“I am delighted to have this opportunity to lead such an important Canadian organization,” said Denham. “BDC plays a fundamental role within the fabric of Canadian business, and I am eagerly looking forward to making a difference.”
The BDC has 2,000 employees, has over 100 business centres across the country, and “puts entrepreneurs first.” The BDC has invested in over by investing in 30,000 small and medium-sized companies over the years, including Control, Bit Stew, Wagepoint, and Kira Talent.
