Proptech startup Lane has opened a new corporate headquarters in downtown Toronto after a year of significant growth for the company. Already Toronto-based, Lane is moving headquarters in order to accommodate its expanding team.
“Our new HQ will allow us to grow and meet the demands of the industry.”
The office move comes after a year which saw Lane close a $2.5 million seed round in May. That round was led by Alate Partners, a real estate tech-focused VC firm and the birthchild of Relay Ventures and Dream Corporation.
Lane offers a communication platform for landlords and tenants. The startup closed out 2019 with over 300 million square feet contracted through its platform, representing a 320 percent year over year increase. In December, the company announced it was adding 1,000 new users to its platform every week, with those users performing 10 million actions on the platform.
The company also stated that on average, landlords report a 20-fold increase in engagement and usage of building services and amenities since using Lane’s platform, and a 13-fold increase in reach to occupants.
The startup said its new office is expected to house the company’s product, engineering, design, sales, customer success, and operations teams. The move is also intended to bring Lane closer to its clients and partners.
“Our new HQ will allow us to grow and meet the demands of the industry while furthering our goal of building a Canadian company that provides the best environment for employees to come and do their best work,” said Clinton Robinson, CEO and co-founder of Lane.

Lane was founded in 2015 by Robinson and Kofi Gyekye, who aimed to streamline office space communications between landlords, property managers, companies, retailers, and vendors. Lane’s platform allows property owners to manage employee handbooks, tenant directories, guest registration, and maintenance updates.
Lane has been selected to power several buildings in Los Angeles and Houston, including The Gas Tower Company, Figueroa at Wilshire, EY Plaza, 777 Tower, and Marina Towers, the Allen Center, and the Houston Centre. On the team front, Lane tripled its headcount in 2019 and tapped Rhea Claus as chief client officer, and more recently, Rob Price as chief operating officer.
“I’m thrilled to join Lane at a pivotal time in the company’s evolution,” said Price. “We have an unprecedented amount of opportunity and I’m confident in our product, our partners and our capacity to capitalize at this moment. I look forward to guiding Lane’s growth and helping the teams in Toronto, Brooklyn, and Denver as they continue to deliver Lane’s leading product and services throughout North America and abroad.”
Lane is currently searching for a director of recruiting, director of product, director of marketing, director of finance, and software engineers.
