Fundica Roadshow announces $800,000 investment award

In a continued partnership with Panache Ventures and BCF Ventures, the Fundica Roadshow has announced the two firms will consider investing a combined total of up to $800,000 CAD in the most promising tech startups at the roadshow’s 2019 cross-Canada pitch competition.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Fundica Roadshow for another year,” said Patrick Lor, managing partner at Panache Ventures. “It brings together a concentrated group of high-calibre tech startups, and we look forward to seeing who comes our way in 2019.”

“Fundica Roadshow is homing in on what we do best…bridging the divide between entrepreneurs and investors.”

The 2019 Fundica Roadshow will have three regional stops – Vancouver on April 4, Montreal on April 25, and Toronto on May 16. In each city, up to 16 startups will pitch to a panel of investors, with the best three startups from each city receiving a package of prizes as well as a spot at the Montreal finale on June 20, where they will compete for the $800,000 equity investment award, provided by Panache Ventures and BCF Ventures.

The regional events will be invite-only, open to select startups, investors, and partners, while the finale will be open to all registered attendees and will feature keynotes and panelists, investor and entrepreneur networking opportunities, and a live pitch competition.

“This year, the Fundica Roadshow is homing in on what we do best,” said Mike Lee, president of Fundica, “bridging the divide between entrepreneurs and investors. Last year, more than one third of our main stage pitching startups were offered funding during or following the Fundica Roadshow, and with our new, hyper-focused format, we hope to continue, if not augment, this figure in 2019.”

“Historically, we’ve been very pleased with the startups we met at the Fundica Roadshow, and we expect to meet another impressive cohort this time around,” said Sergio A. Escobar, CEO and partner at BCF Ventures.

Last year, the Fundica Roadshow brought together over 150 pitching startups, 2,200 entrepreneurs, 75 investors, and over 110 community partners, maintaining its status as the largest pitch competition in Canada. Anyone interested in applying or attending one of the three stops can find more information here.
