While major layoffs continue to sweep the tech industry across Canada and all over the world, software developers remain in high demand for Canadian startups. The software market in Canada is expected to show an annual growth rate of almost six percent according to a recent study.

Many Canadian startups are looking to hire developers across the country. Below is a list of companies that are looking to fill these positions, more can be found at Jobs.BetaKit.

Clio

Clio offers clients a seamless collection and payment experience in the complex world of legal payments, making the legal process more accessible. Clio’s most recent round of funding was a Series E worth $136 million CAD in 2021, launching it into unicorn status. Since then, the company has made acquisitions such as Lawyaw, launched Clio Ventures to inch into the FinTech space, and reached centaur status by surpassing $100 million USD in annual recurring revenue.

Clio is looking for a fully remote senior software developer to join their team, as well as other positions like a senior accountant and chief product officer.

Busbud

Busbud allows users to search, compare, and buy tickets for buses across over 3,900 companies in over 21,000 cities worldwide. Busbud has raised a total of $55 million CAD to date and has seen recent success in growth through acquisitions, acquiring Toronto’s Betterez late last year.

Busbud is looking for a full-stack developer to join their team, in addition to an office and events coordinator and a a corporate development director.

Ceridian

Ceridian is a software company that provides human resources, payroll, benefits, and more in one cloud platform. In December of last year, the company was recognized as one of the best places to work in IT for 2023. In 2020, Ceridian committed to hiring over 2000 employees in Canada over a five-year period due to the “outstanding talent” coming out of Canadian universities.

Ceridian is looking for a front-end software developer lead, an IT technical program manager, and a cybersecurity architect.

Global Relay

Vancouver-based Global Relay is an enterprise information archiving platform using cloud solutions for surveillance, eDiscovery, and analytics. Since 1999 the company’s founding core management team remains intact, along with over 1,300 employees and 20,000 customers.

Global Relay is looking to fill a number of developer positions such as intermediate software development engineer, senior C# developer, and intermediate Java developer.
