eSentire Raises $14 Million, plans to hire 40 and “accelerate market leadership”

The Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) recently unveiled the Top 20 Hottest Innovative Companies in Canada. On the list was eSentire, a Cambridge-based startup that provides cyber security mainly from its Network Interceptor product.

The company has announced today that its raised $14 Million series C equity from by Georgian Partners, Cisco Investments, Northleaf Venture Catalyst Fund, Edison Partners, and VentureLink. The money will be used to “accelerate market leadership” and expand its sales and marketing operations in North America and Europe. The company is also planning to immediately hire 40 employees to its research facility “to keep pace with demand.”

eSentire has clients in various markets — including financial services firms, legal, extractive and healthcare organizations — and also plans to enter the technology and bio-pharma sectors.
