Fundica, a Montreal-based funding identification and connection platform for Canadian businesses, has announced the winners of the 2019 Fundica Roadshow equity investment award.
“The Fundica Roadshow facilitates the kind of risk-taking that is crucial to the success of venture capitalists and early-stage startups.”
For its seventh season, the Fundica Roadshow was held in partnership with Panache Ventures, BCF Ventures, and AngelList, at the Rialto Theatre in Montreal June 20. Eleven startups pitched their businesses to a panel of investors, who ranked them based on market potential, solution, team, pitch, and investment readiness. The Fundica Roadshow trophy was awarded to ehsAI, Silofit, and Neuraura. All three each took home a $1,000,000 prize.
“By providing a point of connection for startups and the investors interested in funding them, the Fundica Roadshow facilitates the kind of risk-taking that is crucial to the success of venture capitalists and early-stage startups alike,” said Sergio A. Escobar, CEO of BCF Ventures. “We are very proud to have continued our partnership with them for this seventh season.”
EhsAI is an AI-powered tech startup with a mission to transform the way organizations use these technologies to manage environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance. The company has created a tool that converts regulations and permits to compliance action items.
The second Roadshow winner was Neuraura, a biotech startup focusing on neuroscience and microfabrication technology. Neuraura applies research and leading practices to understand the electrophysiological workings of the brain, aiming to put an end to brain diseases.
Finally, Silofit, a proptech startup that focuses on leasing and converting small offices into micro-gyms that can be rented by the hour using its app. Its gyms are decked out for both training and physical therapy sessions.

The Fundica Roadshow is a national pitch competition for Canadian tech startups that aims to educate and fund entrepreneurs. Up to 16 pre-selected startups pitch at Fundica’s closed city events in Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto. Three finalists from each city then move on to its public finale in Montreal, where they will compete for a chance to win the equity investment award.
“The Fundica Roadshow gives us a good sense of what trends are forming in our community and allows us to pinpoint leads that we might not have been able to locate on our own,” said Alex Norman, partner at AngelList.
This season’s event saw keynotes from Xavier Peich of SmartHalo, Joost Ouwerkerk of Hopper, Warren Levitan of Smooch, Marie Eve Prevost of MissFresh, and Emilie Boutros of TandemLaunch. Fundica said the winning companies will now continue conversations with Panache Ventures, BCF Ventures, and AngelList.
