Cubbyspot removing the headache from daycare wait times on #TheDisruptors

When it comes to finding daycare services in major cities like Toronto, many parents share the same complaints — finding a high-quality daycare is both expensive and time-consuming.

One Toronto-based startup pitching on The Disruptors is hoping to solve at least one of these issues. Cubbyspot‘s mobile platform connects parents and daycares to fill vacancies more efficiently. Parents have the ability to sign up through a preferred location and receive notifications about daycare availability through their phone, while daycares can more easily manage their waitlist through the platform.

“Across Canada we have 12,000 listings, but we do have 30 daycare partners based in Toronto where you can use the app to sign up and find open spots,” said Regnard Raquedan, founder of CubbySpot. “Right now, finding a daycare spot is very hard for a parent. Three years ago when my wife and I were looking for daycare, it took us months to find an opening.”

While co-host Bruce Croxon said there are enough daycare listing services, he said CubbySpot’s ability to send notifications when spots are available are the most interesting aspect of the business. “It’s saving time from calling back and waiting desperately for that spot,” he said.
