Cleantech Group names EnerTech Capital financial investor of the year

EnerTech Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in mid-stage energy and clean energy companies, has been named Financial Investor of the Year as part of the 2015 Global Cleantech 100 program.

The Global Cleantech 100, which looks at the most innovative companies in cleantech, is curated by Cleantech Group, an organization dedicated to helping businesses make strategic decisions in the cleantech industry.

The Financial Investor of the Year Award is awarded to the financial investor with the highest proportion of Global Cleantech 100 companies in each year’s list, as a percentage of their overall qualifying portfolio.

“We are honored today to accept this prestigious award. Since 1996, we have maintained our focus on the Energy Technology/Cleantech sector and are currently investing out of our fourth fund,” said Wally Hunter, managing director of EnerTech Capital. “We would like to thank The Cleantech Group for the work they have done through the Cleantech 100 program to build a global ecosystem which brings together a great combination of companies, venture funds and strategic investors to help build successful cleantech companies.”

The Cleantech Group puts the list together by looking at its research data, with weighted qualitative judgments of hundreds of nominations, and specific inputs from a 100-person panel of global experts. To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.

“The Global Cleantech 100 provides us with insight into the collective opinion of key market players on which megatrends and innovation companies are most likely to have a significant impact in the next five to 10 years,” said Michele Parad, senior manager at Cleantech Group and lead author of the Global Cleantech 100 Report. “Now in its seventh year, the Global Cleantech 100 program reveals which themes are staying relevant and which sectors are taking centre stage.”

EnerTech Capital has offices in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Philadelphia.
