BetaKit’s Guide to Elevate Product

Elevate Product

Returning for its third year, Elevate is now simply too big for one event guide. So BetaKit has produced a guide to every event and stage taking place across the seven-day festival. You can find a link to each individual guide on our Guide to Elevate 2019 hub page.

The path to product development can seem like multiple mountains to climb. There’s the challenge of building software that solves a problem. And then there’s the challenge of finding someone willing to pay to have that problem solved.

During Elevate Product, attendees will get to hear from builders who have been there, done that. The day’s speakers will explain the best approaches for designing products that are user friendly and purpose driven, technologically feasible, and scalable.

“The beauty of mobile and analytics is we actually know where [customers] are.”
– Humza Teherany

Avrum Laurie, VP of Product at Wealthsimple, will talk about the Canadian FinTech darling’s vital redesign—at a critical point early on its path towards becoming a lifestyle company. Katharina Borchert, Chief Innovation Officer of Mozilla, will take the stage to explain how open source can drive the future of technological innovation.

Elevate Product will also feature Humza Teherany, Chief Technology Officer of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, sharing how the sports giant became more product centric to help take the Toronto Raptors global (did you know the team’s mobile app has fans from Australia and the United Kingdom regularly checking in on the NBA champions?).

“The beauty of mobile and analytics is we actually know where they are — which city they’re in, what country they’re in, what they’re clicking,” says Teherany.

Attend Elevate Product to get insight into building something that is meaningful for users, in Canada and around the world.
