It looks like drone maker Aeryon Labs is putting some of its recent $60 million in VC funding to good use.
The company, which makes small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), announced that it would open a second office location in the Waterloo region not far from its current office. President and CEO Dave Kroetsch said that the new space, at 619B Kumpf Drive, will allow Aeryon to scale its R&D, manufacturing, and sales and marketing operations.
“We remain committed to Waterloo Region as our primary base of operations,” said Kroetsch. “The world-class talent pool and proximity to other leading technology organizations is highly desirable, and we are confident in our ability to continue to hire and retain top engineering talent.”
Kroetsch said that the expansion is due to the company’s growth in the past few years, as the company boasts customers in over 35 countries and has 125 employees. The expansion will help support Aeryon as it uses the VC funding to foster widespread adoption in the military, public safety, and commercial sectors.
“Discovery and entrepreneurship are hallmarks of our community, and Aeryon Labs embodies those traits,” said Waterloo mayor Dave Jaworsky. “We are a talent-rich city and by continuing to invest in our quality of life, companies like Aeryon Labs find Waterloo an attractive city to grow and create jobs.”
