Sustainable Technology Development Canada announced that it’s investing a total of $45 million to 17 cleantech initiatives across Canada.
The funding includes $39.6 million dedicated to 14 specific projects, and $5.5 million in three cleantech companies that have already received SDTC funding. The money comes from the $915 million SD Tech Fund, which invests in pre-commercial cleantech projects.
The projects are being carried out in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec. They span sectors including waste management; energy, exploration and production; power generation; energy utilization; and agriculture.
“Through today’s investments, we hope to reinvigorate energy innovation in this country,” said Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains. “We want to see all industries, all sectors, indeed all Canadians, including the middle class, benefit from this country’s amazing potential for long-term growth and success. We imagine a Canada leading the world out of this period of slow growth.”
Bains made the announcement at DarkVision, which received $3 million from the fund and announced an $8 million Series A.
