PayPal has announced that it has brought on Paul Parisi, a veteran within the payment space, as general manager of the company’s Canadian operations. PayPal Canada has over 6.4 million active customers with 250,000 small businesses using is payment services.
Paul Parisi was formerly vice president and general manager of global commercial payments American Express Canada and replaces Cameron Schmidt. Parisi is described as a “results-focused” leader who is tasked with taking the company into the next decade, specifically to bring “innovations to market and further solidifying PayPal as one of the leading online and mobile payment services in Canada.”
“The e-commerce, payments, and FinTech industries are at an exciting juncture in Canada. I look forward to driving even more profitable growth for PayPal in Canada,” said Parisi in a statement.
During an interview last year, Alexander Peh, PayPal Canada’s head of mobile, stated one in five PayPal transactions in Canada are done through a mobile device.
