Proptech was hot prior to COVID-19, but the pandemic set the market upside down for the incumbents and the disruptors.
“Once the pandemic hit, 50 percent of Canadians overnight said they wanted to do more of their transactions online.”
– Robert Price,
Bōde Canada
To drill down into the Canadian residential market and uncover the reality behind the numbers, we invited Robert Price, CEO of Bōde Canada, a relatively new Alberta-based proptech startup, onto the podcast.
Price explained that not all markets are hot, as the remote work boom has turned cold markets “icy.” Price also shared thoughts on why the real estate space has been so late to see disintermediation by tech like so many other sectors, which has led to a process that has taken all the cards out of the home buyer’s hands.
