Not long ago most people trusted their precious data to a single cloud storage provider, be it DropBox or Google Drive or one of the many other cloud servers, but lately things have gotten a bit more complicated.
As people continue to share, collaborate, and take advantage of the endless storage space available in cyber space, keeping that data organized and in sync has become a daunting task.
That’s where Mover comes in. The Edmonton based-started provides solutions that makes it easier for both businesses and individuals to migrate data between storage servers, and keep it all backed up.
Mover has announced that it had raised $1 Million in seed funding from Canadian and American investors, including Double M Partners, Yaletown Venture Partners, Amplify, and Medra Capita, as well as angel investors Jarl Mohn, Rick Barry, and Dennis Phelps.
Mover, formerly known as Backup Box, was launched in Vancouver Growlab accelerator, and is now moving to Los Angeles’ Amplify Accelerator Program. The startup plans to use the new capital to bring in more sales and marketing staff, hoping to increase capacity and scale their operations.
Mover can migrate data between most major cloud storage providers, including Dropbox, Google Drive, FTP, SkyDrive, SugarSyn, Box, and Amazon’s S3, and can also be used to synchronize or backup data on multiple platforms simultaneously.
It also allows users to schedule automatic transfers, archive files into a compressed ZIP folder, and provides detailed logging reports about each pending, ongoing, or completed transfer.
In less than a year since its launch Mover has transferred over 300 million files and currently performs approximately 5,000 transfers a day.
