This week, two Toronto startups launched new features. Here’s the latest on Canada’s movers and shakers.
Ask The Doctor reaches major milestone of 250,000 doctors on platform
Toronto-based Ask The Doctor, which allows users to send questions to registered doctors, has hit a milestone of 250,000 doctors on the platform.
The company also reached a milestone of helping over 5 million people worldwide connect with a doctor this year. Ask The Doctor has been building up its tech capabilities over the past year, including integrating house calls into the platform and making acquisitions of digital properties in India and the UK.
“We are proud to have users from every single country in the world every single day using our service. These users tell us they love using Ask The Doctor because it gives them advice in a timely fashion and clarifies any questions about their health they weren’t able ask their own doctor due to time constraints,” said Prakash Chand, founder and CEO of Ask The Doctor. “Today we are so proud and humbled that so many physicians recognize this growing global problem and have joined the Ask The Doctor Team to help make healthcare advice more accessible for everyone around the globe.”
Flexiti Financial wins bid to be POS financing partner for outdoor equipment manufacturers
Toronto-based Flexiti Financial has won a competitive bid to be the preferred POS financing partner in Canada for outdoor maintenance and equipment manufacturers including Husqvarna, Briggs & Stratton, Ariens, Big Dog Mowers, Hustler, ECHO Power Equipment and ECHO Bear Cat. Flexiti Financial now has access to over 800 dealers that sell lawn and garden tools and outdoor power equipment.
“With a large dealer network across Canada, it was critical that we partner with a financing company that can be flexible and nimble to meet our needs, while offering an easy-to-use service for dealers that can quickly scale across multiple locations,” said Jeff Ness, director of Ccedit at Ariens. “Flexiti Financial’s POS financing platform and client-first approach meet these needs, and we are thrilled to partner with them to help our private dealers offer sales financing to their customers.”
Dealers will now have access to Flexiti Financial’s POS financing platform, which promises to provide instant financing on any device and instant credit approval in three minutes.
“Flexiti Financial is proud to be selected as the financing partner for such a diverse and respected group of manufactures and dealers,” said Peter Kalen, Founder and CEO of Flexiti Financial. “We look forward to working with these dealers across Canada to help them experience the power an effective POS financing platform can have on generating sales and improving the customer experience.”
In late November, Flexiti raised a $5 million Series A, and in early May, appointed a COO and CRO to its executive team.
