Hootsuite acquires Vancouver’s Sales Prodigy

Hootsuite

Hootsuite announced today that it has acquired local Vancouver startup Sales Prodigy. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Sales Prodigy produces a mobile app to help organizations with their social selling programs, monitoring the social activity of leads and notifying sales teams of opportunities to engage. The tool is an obvious fit in Hootsuite’s software portfolio, and Sales Prodigy was in fact previously a part of the company’s open ecosystem App Directory.

“Many organizations have invested in social marketing and social support, but there’s a big gap in the market for social selling solutions, and we want to address it.” says Matt Switzer, vice president of corporate development at Hootsuite, in a statement to BetaKit. “Companies like Palms Hotel and Marketo already use Hootsuite as part of their lead generation efforts. With the addition of Sales Prodigy, we’re bolstering our platform to better align with our customers needs for social selling.”

Hootsuite has confirmed with BetaKit that all of Sales Prodigy (LinkedIn says the company has somewhere around ten employees) will be joining the Big Owl as part of its Labs team.
