Montreal-based social television audience measurement startup Seevibes has announced the acquisition of Bordeaux, France-based TvTweet, a European startup doing offering similar services in social TV measurement.
On top of that, the former FounderFuel team Seevibes is opening an office in France. Seevibes currently works out of Notman House in Montreal, ranked as Montreal’s top coworking space in BetaKit’s “A Biased List of the Top Five Coworking Spaces in Montreal”.
The recent moves are meant to “jump-start” the company’s development in Europe.
“The main goal for Seevibes is to help the media to better monetize the social network audience. To support this, we’ve created a standard of measurement that has already been proven in Canada among the biggest players in the industry,” said CEO Laurent Maisonnave.
Seevibes is like a matchmaker for traffic-hungry advertisers and the television shows and networks that want their business: it enables the advertisers to choose the best shows to match their target audience while enabling television networks to help advertisers access their audience via social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
The company calls itself “Canada’s only solution for measuring and analyzing TV’s social media audience.”
Television networks, advertisers, brands and media agencies wishing to build and integrate their communications around television content can use Seevibes. Social media stats are completely analyzed to show a tv show’s affinity for a brand. With a database of several thousand TV shows and top 500 brands, the company can offer relevant data to agencies and broadcasters so they can better “understand and transform audience engagement.”
Each week the company analyzes and categorizes more than 20 million viewer social interactions about the shows they watch. Clients include Quebecor Media, V Interactions, Radio-Canada, CBC, Bell Media and more.
TvTweet, meanwhile, was founded in 2011 and is already present in seven European countries, covering more than 100 “prominent media” groups. Some of their notable clients include Orange, TF1 and NRJ12.
“With the acquisition of France’s TvTweet, Seevibes becomes a major player in Europe and the only one to offer a complete solution, both in real-time TV show analysis and in performance and audience profiling,” said TvTweet founder Thomas Landspurg. “This is a great entry point for addressing countries looking for monetization and ad targeting solutions for social TV.”
