Vancouver Home Owner-Contractor Marketplace Servicegems Raises $1.4 Million

Vancouver and Phoenix-based home owner and contractor marketplace ServiceGEMS has raised $1.4 million in angel funding.

The site currently has over 40,000 contractors across North America and initially started out as a marketplace geared towards property owners but since shifted its focus to include homeowners too (which we think was a pretty smart decision).

ServiceGEMS gives homeowners, property managers and commercial managers all the information necessary to hire a qualified service pro.

“Today many sites provide reviews and photos that assist clients with finding qualified professionals. Our objective is to provide the reviews and photos and to provide Business License Information, Insurance Coverage, Workers Compensation Details, Certifications, Associations and other details,” wrote ServiceGEMS. “These are the kinds of things professional property managers use to determine suitability for contract work.”

“Contractors benefit from our service by gaining access to commercial and private customers who are looking for the kind of service professional that maintains a high standard in their particular industry and service offering.”
