The Summer Institute, an accelerator operated by the University of New Brunswick’s J Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management & Entrepreneurship, is now accepting applicants for its 2019 cohort.

The Summer Institute is a twelve-week business accelerator program based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, that accepts 5-7 companies each year to participate in its program. Successful applicants receive a stipend for living expenses, prototyping grants, access to their downtown workspace, and mentor-led programming aimed at developing sustainable and profitable companies.

“The Summer Institute is designed to help early-stage companies with a big vision,” said Summer Institute Program Manager Melissa O’Rourke. “We look for early-stage ventures that want to make an impact beyond the bottom line, and it’s truly a joy to help these community-minded entrepreneurs pursue their dreams.”

The Summer Institute has helped launch over 30 companies since its first cohort in 2014. The program is not restricted to companies from any particular region or sector, though it historically has focused on accelerating ventures with an innovative consumer product or service. Prominent alumni include Stash Energy, Koffee Organics, and Eggcitables.

The 2019 program will run from April 29 until July 19, and companies interested in participating in The Summer Institute’s 2019 cohort are strongly encouraged to apply in advance of the February 15 deadline. Applications are available through F6S.
