UGO Wallet surpasses 100,000 customer milestone

UGO Mobile Solutions, makers of the digital wallet that allows users to load loyalty, gift, and payments cards, has announced that more than 100,000 customers have signed up for UGO Wallet and added more than 250,000 cards to these wallets.

UGO was launched last November as Canada’s first open digital wallet, and has been steadily working on digitizing traditional wallets.

The mobile wallet app is backed by TD Bank and PC Financial, and just a small part of the collective effort of the big banks to participate in the FinTech wave sweeping across Canada.

“This was an aggressive target, and achieving it in such a short time frame demonstrates that customers are adopting this unique and innovative mobile solution,” said Alec Morley, CEO of UGO. “When we first launched with our integrated payment and loyalty platform, we promised our customers that we would continually evolve our wallet to meet their needs. We’ve kept that promise, and we’re not done yet.”

UGO wallet can be used at any retailer that supports contactless payments. Despite the impressive milestone, the company may definitely face challenges in a market where only 10 percent of Canadians are using mobile payments.
