Two months after rebrand, Looka opens new corporate headquarters in Toronto

AI-powered logo design company Looka has established new corporate headquarters at 220 Adelaide St. in Toronto.

Looka said it is planning to add several strategic positions this year.

The company said its new office will house its team of data scientists and developers while growing Looka’s market share in Canada and the US. Looka said it is on pace to see a year-over-year workforce increase of 35 percent by the end of 2019 and is planning to add several strategic positions to its team.

“At 8,500 square feet, the new space is more than double the size of our previous office,” said Dawson Whitfield, co-founder and CEO of Looka. “Our new headquarters is based in a stand-alone, two-story building, affording us ample opportunity to continue to grow, build a strong culture through enhanced collaboration, and define the future of AI-driven branding solutions for entrepreneurs and small businesses.”

The new space will feature a communal kitchen, dining areas, creative spaces, a quiet room, bike storage, a shower for those who bike to work or work out during the day, and a games room with foosball and ping-pong tables. The company has also brought on Toronto-based artist Ben Johnston to create custom wall murals for the office.

The company, founded in 2016, rebranded to Looka from Logojoy in April, and expanded its product offering to reach beyond logo creation. It released a website builder product through a partnership with Weebly. In November, Looka raised a $6 million Series A round led by Real Ventures to help it expand its design and machine learning capabilities, which include investing in its AI that can create custom symbols, fonts, and graphics.

“Looka is the first AI-powered graphic design platform on the market, and we’ve put significant investment into our machine learning algorithms, as seen in the custom logo designs we generate and the suggestions we give,” said Rares Crisan, co-founder and CTO of Looka. “We also focus on delighting users throughout the design process with personalized suggestions, the ability to preview variations of their logo, and live chat seven days a week.”

Over the past six months, Looka said it has seen a 57 percent increase in sales of its AI-developed logos and grown its customer adoption from about 200,000 signups a month to almost 400,000 a month.
