The 2015 Ignite Competition, a startup competition from the Spark Innovation Centre for businesses in the Durham region, has named the two winners to came out on top of 72 other participating companies.
Inventing Future Technology (IFTech), which works on immersive gaming through wearable technology, took home the award of Young Entrepreneur of the Year, while Sound Options, a company that designs accessible and affordable treatments for tinnitus, took the prize of General Entrepreneur winner. Both won $25,000 in prizes each.
“I am continuously impressed with the amount of entrepreneurial talent in Durham Region. The level of competition this year was at its highest and I congratulate all 72 companies who participated throughout the process,” said Dennis Croft, president and CEO of Spark Innovation Centre. “Congratulations to IFTech and Sound Options, two incredibly dedicated and hard-working companies. Spark Centre is looking forward to being a part of their journey and continued success.”
Along with the $25,000 prizes, the two companies will get free office space in Spark Centre’s head office in Oshawa called The Loft. The companies will also join Spark Innovation Centre’s Thrive Accelerator Program.
