Smooth Commerce, a mobile order and payment solution for retail verticals, has launched the Basil Box App for iOS and Android.
The Toronto company said the app will give Basil Box, a Southeast Asian-inspired food chain, the ability to create a digital ordering experience for its customers.
The Basil Box app includes an order ahead feature, which allows users to customize their food boxes and pre-pay for their orders before picking them up at a designated pick-up location. Customers collect 10 loyalty points for every dollar they spend to redeem free snacks, handcrafted drinks, and food boxes.

“We knew we needed to respond to emerging consumer demands for speed, personalization, and convenience, leveraging technology in a big way to make it happen,” said Peter Chiu, founder and chief basil of the Basil Box. “Smooth Commerce’s platform provided the right solution for us.”
Smooth Commerce builds mobile apps for retailers that allow customers to pay, collect loyalty rewards, and redeem discounts on a single platform. The company said that through its new offering, Basil Box can track customer loyalty and analytics and make decisions on personalized activation campaigns, which encompass SMS, push notifications, and in-app offers.
“This digital approach Basil Box has taken enables them to build efficiency, source customer information, and engage with their customers directly,” said David Sorger, president of Smooth Commerce. “Today’s consumer has more options than ever before, and our goal is to always provide convenience, speed, and personalization to customers in meaningful and impactful ways.”
In the past year, Smooth Commerce has been working to advance its product, partnerships, and market development. In November 2017, Smooth Commerce raised $2 million, partly to build out its team. Earlier this year, Smooth Commerce added former Canadian Football League vice president Glen Johnson as its chief commercial officer.
