ADP to Give Away Big Money to Small Businesses Through Second Annual Contest

Automatic Data Processing Canada (ADP Canada), the provider of business outsourcing solutions, is set to give six Canadian entrepreneurs $10,000 each through its second annual Small Business Grant Contest.

ADP Canada is the Canadian subsidiary of the New Jersey-based multinational corp ADP, which did over $10 billion in revenue last year.

“It is extremely gratifying to see the impact this award has had on the winners,” said ADP Canada’s Greg Secord. “From creating jobs to improving our understanding of disease, to helping seniors live with dignity, this award is a reminder that small businesses truly move our communities forward, and a small investment can make a huge difference.”

The company’s first contest was created last year, which comes along with big promotion of ADP’s Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions. HCM is the management process of an organization’s workforce, or human resources, and companies who are successful at this kind of thing can usually become quite successful in the profit margin.

According to the company, owners and operators of small businesses with 1-49 employees can visit the site to share their business story and describe what they would do with $10,000. Entrants can then invite their customers, employees, friends and family to show their support by voting for their submission online.

Last years contest saw a wide variety of businesses operating all over Canada, from British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador. They all needed capital and services to grow their businesses. The first recipient, Amy’s Quality Care/Home Care, a home care services company in Gravel Hill, NB used the award to hire 12 additional part-time and full-time staff to assist her growing clientele. Meanwhile, Vancouver-based Kinexus, a biotechnology company, built an online resource to expand research.

“The ADP Small Business Grant not only gave us the opportunity to continue our work, we were also able to hire and train university students to be the next generation of scientists,” said Kinexus’ Catherine Sutter. “I would definitely recommend the grant program to any small business owner.

The ADP Small Business Grant Contest runs from November 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014. A winner will be announced for each month from November 2013 to April 2014. Winners will also have their payroll fees waived for one year.
