Ottawa-based ecommerce platform Shopify today announced Ian Black, former Head of UberEATS North America, will join the company as Director of Retail.

In this role, Black will be leading the business and go-to-market strategy for Shopify Retail in Toronto, by overseeing sales, solutions, partnerships and operations, working alongside marketing and R&D leadership.

With Black’s leadership in 2019, the company plans to expand their investments in Shopify Retail.

Prior to joining Shopify, Black was head of UberEATS’ American and Canadian divisions. By 2022, Shopify said it will occupy 254,000 square feet at the Well office by Front Street and Spadina Avenue, with an opportunity to expand. With Black’s leadership in 2019, the company plans to expand its investments in Shopify Retail.
