Coding academy Lighthouse Labs has announced the launch of its Blockchain for Developers course.
Blockchain for Developers is a 12-week, part-time training course for experienced developers who want to specialize in blockchain. Developers participating in the course will learn about theoretical possibilities of technologies like blockchain, ethereum, solidity, and smart contracts. They will also develop solutions based on these technologies.
Lighthouse Labs said it designed the blockchain course to address the need for blockchain developers and talent, especially as Canada’s blockchain ecosystem expands with companies like CryptoKitties and Coinsquare.

“As the understanding of blockchain’s vast business benefits increases, Canadian organizations are looking for specialized developer talent, yet there’s a severe lack of it due to low availability of training,” said Jeremy Shaki, CEO of Lighthouse Labs. “With the help of industry experts, current blockchain specialists, and active blockchain developers, we’ve put together a robust curriculum including group discussions, lectures, mentorship, and project-based learning, that will help developers learn the tools necessary to be successful in blockchain development.”
The first Blockchain for Developers course will take place in Toronto this summer with a cohort of 10 students who were selected through a competitive application process. The next cohorts will begin in September in Vancouver and Toronto, and Lighthouse Labs has plans to bring the course to other Canadian cities before the end of the year.

In March, Lighthouse Labs partnered with Kids Code Jeunesse to launch Code Create Tech, a national campaign to give teachers the computational skills to teach coding.
