Ottawa-based SaaS accelerator L-Spark has decided to move forward with its annual SaaS Showcase demo day, with the event to take place virtually.
The SaaS Showcase is the demo day and graduation event for the L-Spark Accelerator cohort. It brings together a large portion of the tech and startup ecosystem in Ottawa and was set to take place on March 31 at Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata.
“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, L-Spark has made the decision to take SaaS Showcase Remote.”
“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, L-Spark has made the decision to take SaaS Showcase remote,” the organization stated. “L-Spark looks forward to presenting the pitching startups in a new, virtual way.”
The newly rebranded SaaS Showcase Remote is still set to take place on March 31, with L-Spark noting that more details will come as it scopes out the full event. The organization did note, however, that Carol Leaman, CEO of Axonify, will be joining as the keynote speaker.

L-Spark’s decision to move forward with its event comes as other tech organizations are making similar decisions in the hope of continuing to operate in light of the growing measures and self-isolation taking place across the globe to aid in curbing the spread of COVID-19. Earlier this week, Y Combinator hosted its regular demo day virtually, Singularity University hosted a three-day virtual summit on COVID-19, and tech conference Collision has also been announcing speakers for its remote event that is set to take place later this year.
With the Canadian government taking measures to support individuals and businesses and multiple provinces declaring a state of emergency, requiring people to stay home, limimt travel, and work remotely, multiple Canadian innovation hubs have made changes to their offerings, shutting down physical spaces and looking to offer remote programming.
