RBC’s Tech Community Team will highlight the future of cybersecurity at its next FutureMakers Talks on October 30.
The evening will showcase how emerging technologies like AI and quantum computing present new challenges for the cybersecurity industry. Alex Manea, chief security and privacy officer at Georgian Partners, will lead the event’s keynote, leveraging his past experience as chief security officer at BlackBerry and founding member of BlackBerry Security. In his talk, Manea will share specifically how tech like artificial intelligence and IoT will change the cybersecurity landscape, touching on new threat models and opportunities for companies.

Shu Wang, chief security officer at Decentral, will also provide insight into how blockchain technologies impact the tech infrastructure of most industries. Decentral was founded by Ethereum co-founder Anthony Di Iorio, who launched the company to allow businesses and individuals to hold and trade blockchain assets.
RBC’s SecDevOps engineer Naba Siddiqui and senior security developer Peter Barkley will share how companies can integrate security into companies so development teams can continue to move quickly. Shawna Coxon, deputy chief at Toronto Police Services, will share how companies should approach talent in order to build a future-proof cybersecurity team. In her talk, she’ll touch on how cybersecurity teams will rely on a decentralized, scalable delivery model and partnerships.
