Financeit, a Toronto-based company that allows businesses to offer consumer financing to their customers from any device, is launching the #MyStory Contest to showcase small businesses and startups across Canada.
To enter the contest, small businesses must follow @financeit and share a story about their business: what the business does, how it got started, or what makes it unique. Proving that written content really has moved to bite-sized bits of information in 2013, Financeit wants small businesses to tell the story in a tweet (140 characters) with the hashtag #MyStory. (I remember past editors telling me to cut down on word counts, but this is on another level.) Oh, and there’s “extra points for creativity”, so you know, be creative!
Here’s an example of one successful tweet:
Nevertheless, the winning small businesses will receive some nice prizes. Financeit will give away one iPad Mini every week for 10 weeks. Winners will be chosen by a Financeit panel and announced through Twitter on fridays at 4pm EST.
“There are more than 1.1 million small businesses across Canada,” said Financeit cofounder Michael Garrity. “Our goal is to support these companies by providing them with proven sales tools and strategies utilized by traditional big box retailers.”
Eligible businesses must be based in Canada or have a Canadian mailing address to enter. Small business owners and employees are eligible, and entrants don’t have to be current Financeit partners.
Financeit is a platform that “makes it easy for businesses of any size to increase their sales by offering their customers consumer financing.” Since launching in 2011, Financeit has signed up more than 2,800 businesses who have processed more than $500 million in loans.
