The Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA) released its Q1 2015 statistics and revealed a total of $362 million was invested into 121 companies, which is an increase from $11 million and 12 deals when compared to Q4. The highlighted companies are Miovision Technologies, Thrasos Innovation, Essa Pharma, Corsa, Clearpath Robotics and Cynapsus.
Leading the charge is the ICT (information and communications technology) sector with 86 deal and $240.16 million. Health Sciences followed with 16 companies seeing investments worth $91.99 million. Other notable sectors of VC focus in Q1 was AgriBusiness and Cleantech. As for the VC firms making moves and investing into the future of Canadian businesses are iNovia Capita, Real Ventures, Relay Ventures, Innovacorp, Yaletown Venture Partners, and Difference.
