Coincapital, the investment and portfolio management division of Coinsquare, has launched two exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Coincapital opened the Toronto Stock Exchange this morning to launch the ETFs, which include the Coincapital STOXX Blockchain Patents Innovation Index Fund and the Coincapital STOXX B.R.AI.N. Index Fund (THNK). LDGR invests in global equity securities of companies investing in the research and development of blockchain technologies.

THNK invests in companies in the biotechnology, robotics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology spaces, which Coincapital defines broadly as B.R.AI.N companies. The key criterion in this ETF fund is that a company must generate 50 percent of revenues from the aggregate of these sectors.

“Canadians know technologies like AI and the blockchain are going to change the way we live and work, but it can be difficult to access high-quality investments in these sectors without deep domain expertise,” said Lewis Bateman, CEO of Coincapital. “We’re doing the work for investors, using our in-depth industry knowledge to provide Canadians with an innovative suite of investment options that help them invest in new technology even if they’re not an expert.”

Coinsquare launched Coincapital in late July with plans to launch the two ETFs.
