Returning for its third year, Elevate is now simply too big for one event guide. So BetaKit has produced a guide to every event and stage taking place across the seven-day festival. You can find a link to each individual guide on our Guide to Elevate 2019 hub page.

The modern workforce no longer seeks jobs that just make more money. Today’s tech talent wants to be part of a mission they believe in, and they expect transparency in that mission from their leaders. The need to build the right environment for this new generation of workers could not be more clear as Canada faces a shortage of 220,000 skilled tech workers by 2021.

“The solutions of the future are made with creativity, diverse perspectives, and people from different places working together.”
– Sabrina Geremia

At Elevate Talent, attendees can meet the senior leaders shaping the workplace of tomorrow. Sabrina Geremia, VP of Google Canada, will use her keynote to explain why we need to rethink our approach to reskilling and equipping the next generation of tech builders if we want to take advantage of an open source internet. A 13-year veteran of the company, Geremia’s insights are based on over 25 years of international marketing, technology sales and general management experience at Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, and Ask Jeeves.

“The solutions of the future are made with creativity, diverse perspectives, and people from different places working together,” Geremia told BetaKit shortly after being named to her new role.

Diversity will be a recurring theme at Elevate Talent. Jodi Kovitz, founder and CEO of the #movethedial global movement, which is committed to advancing the participation and leadership of all women in tech, will join Geremia at the MaRS Discovery District to explain how diversity can impact both the workplace and its product. In her talk, Kovitz will explain why creating teams that foster collaboration and belonging between a variety of identities results in better technology.
