Toronto-based AudienceView, which provides ecommerce software for events and entertainment organizations, has acquired New York-based TheaterMania, a provider of information and tickets for live theater and the performing arts.
While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, AudienceView said the acquisition includes TheaterMania’s OvationTix, a ticketing system, as well as the TheaterMania.com and WhatsOnStage media brands.
AudienceView said the acquisition extends the company’s reach to over 2,000 arts and culture, sports, live events, and education organizations globally. The company believes its customers will benefit from the larger audience reach, event listings, and multimedia content provided by TheaterMania.com and WhatsOnStage.
“AudienceView and TheaterMania have long shared a common vision and passion to help entertainment organizations build devoted communities.”
“AudienceView and TheaterMania have long shared a common vision and passion to help entertainment organizations build devoted communities and fulfill their missions,” said Gretchen Shugart, formerly CEO of TheaterMania and now president of arts and culture at AudienceView. “We are truly thrilled to be aligned with an organization that understands the industry that we serve and has aggressive plans to invest in our products and offerings to drive even more success for our clients.”
AudienceView also said the acquisition of TheaterMania’s OvationTix service will help AudienceView provide better client service and support. The company, which has plans to bolster product investment in both OvationTix and AudienceView platforms, noted that the OvationTix service will continue to function without change, and receive additional support and resources from AudienceView.
“The combination of AudienceView and TheaterMania now provides arts and cultural organizations with best-in-class capabilities to control their brand and business operations while tapping into the immense power that effective distribution channels bring,” said Mark Fowlie, CEO of AudienceView. “This acquisition expands our portfolio to become the ideal destination for organizations of all sizes seeking the best technology, services, and partnerships to drive their businesses forward.”
AudienceView, which secured an investment last November from Rubicon Technology Partners, plans to work from its Toronto and London offices, as well as TheaterMania’s New York offices.
