Big Data Toronto to host Under Armour, HBO as keynote speakers

At least 1,000 people are expected to attend Big Data Toronto, an event between June 14-15 exploring how big data is transforming business across diverse industries.

The event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will feature speakers and exhibits demonstrating the shift to big data in driving operational efficiency. This year, the event will feature keynote speakers Clinton Larson, VP of CRM and retention at HBO, and Chul Lee, head of data engineering and science at Under Armour. Both will speak to using big data as a business strategy and share the upcoming trends and challenges in the industry.

“From Game of Thrones to True Detective, HBO is a leader in providing Hollywood grade entertainment to television,” Big Data Toronto said in a statement. “Under Armour will be talking UA initiatives, specifically on health and connected fitness, to support its growing client base. Sports and athletic wear has quickly become one of the most innovating industries. Through the use of Big Data, UA has quickly become a brand leader, taking over Adidas early last year.”

Other speakers include Jordan Christensen, head of engineering at Wattpad, and Andrew Graham, co-founder and CEO of Borrowell. The event will also feature classroom-style sessions led by at least 50 experts, as well as a startup corner featuring Toronto companies leveraging big data.
