The Next 36 is taking its act to the MaRS Discovery District on Tuesday for its latest Venture Day.
The day marks the end of the program that takes in 36 high-potential Canadian university-aged youth for eight months, plotting them in groups of three to four and providing their ventures with seed capital.
Venture Day will feature 11 new technology companies developed by these students and another 13 pitches from ventures in The Next Founders – a second program for entrepreneurs with tech companies who already have significant traction. They will present to a room filled with investors, mentors and members of the business community with hundreds more watching live online.
Supported by more than 300 Canadian business leaders – including W. Galen Weston, Paul Desmarais Sr. and Jim Pattison – The Next 36 said it aims to “transform the country’s most promising undergraduates into high-impact entrepreneurs and nation builders.”
The event will also feature a keynote address by Anthony Lacavera, CEO of Globalive Holdings and Wind Mobile.
The Reza Satchu prize, named after one of the program’s four founders, will also be given out to the highest-performing cohort member.
Here’s the ventures that will be pitching at the day:
